In Judges 4, the prophetess Deborah tells Barak that the Lord will sell the Canaanite commander Sisera "into the hand of a woman" (Judges 4:9). Sisera flees the battle and hides in the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite. While he sleeps, she drives a tent nail into his temple (Judges 4:21). In the song that follows, Deborah sings: "Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be" (Judges 5:24).

Proverbs 31:29-31 praises a woman who fears the Lord and lets her works speak for her:

"Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates." Proverbs 31:29-31 (KJV)
